On Arrival

Before landing the flight attendants will hand out two forms – one for entry, one for health control. You will fill in the number of your passport, your flight number, details about your stay in Mauritius, etc.
Note that you carry your valid return ticket and your confirmed booking for accommodation with you. You must be able to show these on request.

Passport: Please make sure that your passport is still valid for at least six months at the time of entry. A child's passport is valid only with photo.

Visa: For a stay to up to three months it is not necessary to apply for a visa beforehand. If you intend a stay of duration of three to six months an extension of the entry permit must be made at the Immigration Office in Mauritius.

Baggage: The import of plants and foods is prohibited. As some medicament are also banned on import, please make sure that you carry a prescription for them with you. If you smoke tobacco, please do not bring along leaflets, these are prohibited. The import of tear gas/pepper spray is also forbidden.

Socket/power: The voltage in Mauritius is 220-240 Volts. Most of the power sockets correspond to the British norm, but there are also some holiday residences with European power sockets. It is thus advised to bring along an adapter.

Airport: The arrival on Mauritius island is a wonderful experience for most visitors. Especially if you leave the cold European winter behind and approach the tropical island early in the morning. While the plane slowly descends you already have a fabulous view of the beautiful bays. Mauritius is well-known for its hospitality and heartiness. On the airport you will be welcomed by the friendly and relaxed Mauritian personnel. Everybody feels welcome.
You will land on “Sir Sewoosagur International Airport”. This airport is to be found in the southeast of the island. The airport is directly linked to the motorway. Like this you will reach your holiday destination quite quickly. It takes approximately a one-hour drive to go to Grand Baie in the North of Mauritius.
